Brief | To save a piece of Portuguese art from being sold to the highest bidder, the National Museum of Antique Art in Lisbon launched a call to a action. A dedicated website digitized the masterpiece, breaking it into 10 million pixels, each up for grabs for a mere 6 cents. Celebrities, politicians and art lovers became sponsors of their own pixels. The movement began on social media but soon, people on the street were talking about art. The campaign exceeded the €600,000 goal by 25 per cent and Sequeria is in its rightful place. Today and always. |
