剧情简介 ​​Gun violence in large cities like Chicago is often discussed as a crime and policing issue. But the complexities of violence go much deeper. The impact of a bullet extends beyond the victim, the shooter, and their families. It ripples across the mental and physical health of entire communities. Community violence is a public health crisis.
哲学 We invited Chicagoans to follow a 1.5-mile path lined with 747 sets of footprints, one for each person killed by gun violence in Chicago in 2021. Installed in high foot traffic areas on the South, West and North sides, the 3 trails traced the roots of violence and its spread across individuals, communities and the city. Topics included: • How gun violence affects mental health? • How green spaces prevent gun violence? • How gun violence affects health and wellness? • How gun violence affects jobs and education? • How violence begets violence? The experience showed that the problems are multifaceted—and so are the solutions. From planting trees to expanding mental health access, Chicagoans heard a holistic approach to violence prevention from the voices of survivors, experts, and community and City leaders. Each bilingual sign included a QR code connecting to City resources and programs to help reduce violence and heal communities. The campaign extended across the city throughout the summer, helping millions of Chicagoans see the path forward. Working together with survivors and community organizations, the City of Chicago has seen a change. In 2022: homicides dropped 13%, and shooting incidents dropped 20%.
