Welcome to the Clubhouse

“During marathon weekend, the Runner’s World x adidas Clubhouse will offer runners and fans an authentic experience with exhibits and products that provide a closeup look at the world of running,” said Kim Tan, VP of marketing for Runner’s World. “MKG has transformed what was an empty space into an exciting venue where visitors will have a truly immersive experience.”

The 4,000-square-foot, multilevel venue will allow runners to connect with notable athletes, celebrate their sport and gear up. Additional programming will include an exhibit where adidas will be displaying a collection of Adizero footwear, alongside a running shoe not yet released to the public. Athletes and adidas Runners coaches will also participate in panels moderated by Runner’s World editors on topics like mental motivation, course strategy and more.

The Nature-Calls Confessional

A can’t-miss highlight for visitors is the adidas Wash Closet Confessional, a customized build from two porta-potty units equipped with a video recorder, monitor, and more.

A nod to that inevitable moment during a race when nature calls, the confessional provides an opportunity for runners to manifest their hopes for the race or share a funny story. Visitors can share their videos on their social media platforms.

“The Runner’s World x adidas Clubhouse has been such an exhilarating project for us,” said Eric Kirkes, senior experiential and integrated producer at MKG. “I'm excited to see how the Wash Closet Confessional is received because it was a very labor-intensive build, and we’re hoping people will enjoy the tongue-and-cheek reference to Marathon Day when runners need a break on the road.”

Additional Highlights

Barilla, a supporting sponsor of the Clubhouse, will host Runner's World Social Hours about fueling and nutrition with a panel of experts, while offering samples of their Protein+ pasta and surprise giveaways. In addition, an exhibit will feature a “locker room” decked out with Runner's World archive memorabilia.

“The New York City Marathon is a legendary sporting event and the MKG team has created an inspiring experience to match it,” said Mili Marcetic, director of production at MKG. “It is an honor to help Runner’s World and adidas welcome fans who are interested in everything about the athletes and their sport, including their gear, food and folklore.”
