With the arrival of electric vehicles, a familiar sound is slowly fading from our roads – the growl of petrol engines. Some petrol-heads can even identify the model of the car from the sound of its motor. BMW certainly knew that its fans would miss the roar of its M engines. So with Serviceplan Middle East it created an event at which sound engineers recorded the racket for posterity as BMW M cars raced around a track. The recordings were then turned into NFT’s for BMW owners – and displayed for posterity in the Museum of Sound on NFT gallery Opensea.IO. If one day petrol engines are no more, the recordings will be a roar from the past.
