剧情简介 | For generations, many Americans were condemned for being true to their identity. Until June 28th, 1969, when gay liberation was born through acts of resistance in Nw York’s Greenwich Village. 50 years later, the movement had grown to represent people of all identities. So how could we honor what it had become at the place where it all began? In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots and WorldPride, and in partnership with the New York City Commission on Human Rights, we unveiled a new symbol of inclusion. We turned the city’s iconic corner of Gay and Christopher Streets in NYC into “Acceptance Street” - a street sign that reflected the unique identities within the LGBTQIA+ community (i.e. gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual, nonbinary, pansexual, two spirit, and +). The new signs served as a visual landmark to celebrate the diversity of identities and expressions within the community and brought historically marginalized groups within the LGBTQIA+ movement to the forefront of the LGBTQIA+ community and emphasized the importance of supporting inclusiveness for all. |
