The launch of the Nestlé Willy Wonka Xploder bar became, quite simply, a phenomenon. From its launch in 1999 it became an overnight sensation with kids – and many adults – besieging shops to try it. Proof that, with a stunning product and the right advertising, you don’t need an enormous budget (media or production) to create a winner. In its first year, Nestlé sold an unbelievable 13 million Wonka bars.
