Production Assistant, Segment Unit

Full-time, Regular, Non-Exempt

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your role as our PA, Segment Unit is integral in the coordination of many of the production elements involved with the broadcast and online broadcast. You’ll work with senior producers, producers, editors and other staff. You’ll also be responsible for a diverse range of writing, research, editing, production, and tracking services to support the PBS NewsHour.

YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS

You’ll get to know your team and the wider organization, and how each group functions independently as well as part of the whole. You’ll establish key relationships with your peers and other staff you regularly work with. You’ll start to be recognized and known for your exceptional work.

You’re known for your high-quality work. You bring a vibrancy and terrific ideas to meetings. Your ability to seamlessly jump from project to project will enable you to flourish.You’ve developed trust with executive leadership and other senior staff.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

• College degree in journalism, communications, or related major; introductory experience with broadcast and online journalism; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced newsroom setting.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent spelling and grammar, and demonstrated writing skills with careful attention to detail.
• Availability to work a non-standard or extended work schedule at times with little to no notice.
