Federal Editor/Author – Checkpoint Catalyst

As a Thomson Reuters Federal Editor/Author working on Checkpoint Catalyst, you will create and maintain content for an exciting product line. You will be able to apply your Federal tax knowledge and skills in a way that will influence the work of tax professionals throughout the U.S. and abroad. You will collaborate with a team of smart, supportive in-house editors, as well as with outside authors, many of whom are recognizable Federal tax practitioners and professors.

Candidate will use his/her Federal Tax knowledge and practical experience to:

  • Write and revise comprehensive editorial analyses of Federal tax topics and transactions.
  • Maintain assigned Federal tax Topics so that they are current and relevant to our customers.
  • Applytechnical expertise and exercise professional judgment in identifying and creating practical insights that will benefit a sophisticated audience of tax professionals.
  • Create “real-life” examples to illustrate complicated concepts discussed in the content.
  • Design and create useful tools (decision trees, calculators, charts, etc) to complement the content.
  • Collaborate with outside authors to produce useful content.


  • J.D. required, LL.M. in Tax preferred.
  • Excellent writing and research skills, and attention to detail.
  • 3+ years of practical experience in Federal Tax (corporate transactions, both U.S. and cross-border; partnerships and other pass-through entities; sales and exchanges; cost recovery; tax accounting; transfer pricing, etc.)
  • Ability to add sophisticated editorial insight and practical guidance in concise, plain business English.
  • Ability to produce useful, publishable material, including developments, under deadline pressure.
