Give us an overview of the campaign. What is it about and what was your role in the creation?

We worked as creatives on the campaign and this year we wanted to make Christmas a little bit less ordinary, more frenetic and less tearful.

Was the brief for this holiday campaign any different that than the usual? What challenges did that present?

This year we had to highlight home automation with Orange’s Connected House.

What inspired you to approach the campaign this way?

We were inspired by adventure movies from the 80s, like the Goonies, E.T…. But we wanted to bring them up to date just like the TV Show Stranger Things did with its retro-futurist look.

What’s a “behind the scenes” story that only you know about?

On the set, we called the actor who plays Santa Claus by his first name: Gerard, and we saw the youngest children, still believing in Santa Claus, looking at each other, speechless and thinking, "Wow, Santa Claus is called Gerard, actually".

Are there any holiday ad tropes that you think should be retired by now?

No, for us anything is an opportunity for creation.

What is your favorite holiday campaign of all time?

John Lewis with Elton John.

What can we expect from your agency in 2020?

Djingo’s campaign about Orange’s connected speaker.

What do you think the advertising industry's New Year’s resolution should be?

It is important to encourage brands to participate in changing the world, but if at the same time we don't forget to entertain people, it's even better.
